1975 Canada Calgary’s Centennial Specimen Silver Dollar
For the centenary of the founding of Calgary, Alberta, the Silver Dollar of 1975 bore a special reverse showing a cowboy atop a bucking bronco. Oil wells and a modern city skyline appear in the background.
Alberta, for more than 10,000 years, has been inhabited by Native Americans. In the 1750’s European explorers flocked to the province, including fur traders, settlers, and missionaries. After the 1870, its economy drastically grew thanks to ranching, using the buffalo as their primary source of livelihood. It was during this time that Alberta was founded.
