1995 Canada Peacekeeping Commemorative Limited Edition Proof Double Dollar Set (Red Cover)

The Royal Canadian Mint is proud to present the Special Edition 1995 Proof Set. This set is unique because the standard Loon Dollar found in the traditional Proof Set is replaced by the 1995 Peacekeeping Proof Dollar. It is the only set which includes both the 1995 Commemorative Silver Dollar and the Peacekeeping Dollar.

The Peacekeeping dollar was minted to mark the 50th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations and depicts a portion of the Peacekeeping Monument in Ottawa. Created by sculptor Jack K. Harman, the Peacekeeping Monument – The Reconciliation – pays tribute to Canadians to serve as international peacekeepers. The monument is a symbol of national pride and a timeless reminder of Canada’s commitment to world peace.

The Commemorative Silver Dollar marks the 325th anniversary of the founding of the Hudson’s Bay Company. The design on the reverse, by Canadian artist Vincent McIndoe, depicts Médard Chouart (the Sieur des Groseilliers) and Pierre-Esprit Radisson, explorers and pioneers of the Company, the ship “Nonsuch” that brought the traders to the shores of Hudson Bay, and Charles Fort, the original trading post which was later renamed “Rupert’s House”.

Set comes in a Burgundy case with white satin interior.
