The Saint-Maurice Ironworks in the Province of Quebec is a pioneer in Canada’s ironworks industry. It is the country’s first industrial community that was established while the fur trade, agriculture, as well as logging ruled the economy. This entity is commemorated in this Saint-Maurice Ironworks Quebec 250th Anniversary Proof 1988 Silver Dollar Coin. The reverse design of the coin is created by Robert-Ralph Carmichael of Ontario and depicts two ironworkers producing iron and cast-iron objects.
